Office Update

My office is very small and its odd shape makes it difficult for me to get inspired and finish this never ending project! I still need to find a very large wall cabinet to go over the other desk but here is a sneak peak at what has already been done.

From this to this

I resized 3 stair treads and used corbels to hold them together

I used cork tiles for a small back splash

The camera is a manual pencil sharpener found on amazon

Vintage thread spools found at antique markets help dress the shelf

More spools

This mini dress form helps keep my tags in handy

a vintage hotel room key chain just because....

Here is the finished side of my office!
Behind the door is the laundry room

More to come soon.....

Homemade Bath Salts

Who doesn't love a warm relaxing bath all year round?

I sure do!

How to make your own and inexpensive bath salt

Ingredients

2 cups Epson Salt
2 teaspoons of vegetable or fruit oil such as jojoba, olive, grapeseed, apricot or almond
5 to 10 drops of your favorite essential oil (this is optional). My favorites are lavender, geranium, eucalyptus)
1/4 cup sea salt (this is optional)
1 to 2 drops food coloring (this is optional but safe to use. It may give your bath water a bit of a tint)
A glass jar with an air tight lid

Instructions

Mix all the ingredients together with a fork making sure to break up all the lumps. Store in a glass jar.
Makes a great gift.

Hatteras Flat

Ok, I have been making this great crustless pizza at home for our guests and everyone keeps asking for the recipe. So here it is....
I found this delicious pizza-like recipe on pinterest a few years ago and it has become a staple in our family. As many times as I vacationed in Hatteras, I never set foot at Cafe 12 where these famous flats were invented! I will make sure to stop by next time I visit. Thanks to Nectar Slice of Life and Rock n Roll for sharing this amazing recipe and pictures. I was too much in a hurry to make it and eat that I completely forgot to take photos.

Ingredients
2 C. Gouda (shredded)
3/4 C. Mozzarella (shredded)
1 dz. Shrimp (peeled, devined, tails on)
1 Garlic Clove (minced)
1/4 C. Chopped Chives
5 Baby Bello Mushrooms (sliced)
Olive oil
Red Pepper Flakes
Salt and Pepper
Handful of roughly chopped cilantro

Instructions
Preheat oven to 425F.
On a baking sheet with parchment paper, create a flat circle about 10-12 inches across with 1 C. gouda and the mozzarella. It's ok if there are holes as when the cheese melts it will spread.Bake for 5 minutes then remove from oven. Turn oven down to 350F.
Saute the shrimp in the olive oil and garlic with a bit of salt, pepper and red pepper flakes (to your taste). Sauté the mushrooms in another small pan with olive oil, salt and pepper. When the shrimp is almost throughly cooked, place them on the baked cheese, top with about 1/4 C. gouda, mushrooms and chives, then top with remaining cheese. Bake 5 minutes, let cool slightly and sprinkle with chopped cilantro. Slice like a pizza and enjoy.
For a crispier pizza, try parmesan or asiago cheese instead of gouda.
Mouth watering good.

Handmade Custom Necklace

Pearls and Ribbons...
When mixed together, they make beautiful but pricey necklaces.
So…
Why pay a small fortune for one when you can make one yourself.
After studying a real pretty one at the store, I decided to gather the supplies at Michaels and get started.

Here is what I came up with

It made a great gift for a close friend.
